Ulrich Seidl, born 1952, lives in Vienna, Austria
Ulrich Seidl is the director of numerous award-winning documentaries such as Jesus du weißt (Jesus, You Know), Models and Tierische Liebe (Animal Love). Werner Herzog named Ulrich Seidl one of his ten favorite filmmakers and said about his film "Animal Love": "Never before in cinema have I been able to look straight into hell." His first fiction feature Dog Days won the Special Grand Jury Prize at the 2001 Venice Film Festival. Import Export, the first film he also produced, premiered in competition in Cannes in 2007. Currently he is working on two new projects − Paradise, a fiction feature and In the Basement, a documentary feature.
